Building a Database Graduates Alumni Platform with Oracle APEX

Topics: Development

Creating a strong IT community has always been my dream. I noticed that many IT professionals are active in different places, but there was no single platform where everyone could connect, share opportunities, and support each other.

After valuable discussions with Saifuddin Shiblu, Consultant, IsDB-BISEW, the idea became clear: a one-stop platform for IT professionals where members can:

  • Connect and build networks
  • Share job opportunities
  • Publish blogs and news
  • Announce events and workshops
  • Request blood donations
  • Solve problems together
  • Share success stories

With this vision, I started building the Alumni Platform using Oracle Database 19c and Oracle APEX 24.1. Oracle APEX allowed me to develop the system quickly while keeping it secure and fast.

How the Platform Works

The platform has a well-structured database with tables for:

  • Members
  • Job Posts
  • Events
  • Blogs
  • Success Stories
  • Gallery
  • Users and Roles

All tables are linked using primary and foreign keys, ensuring smooth performance and data integrity.

The homepage shows:

  • Total members
  • Important messages
  • Latest blogs, events, and success stories

The Admin Dashboard allows:

  • Managing members
  • Publishing jobs and blogs
  • Uploading events and gallery images
  • Controlling platform content from a single place

Key Features and Technology

I focused on building a modern and secure platform:

  • Secure login with role-based access for admins and members
  • Password reset with automatic email verification
  • Hosted on Oracle Linux server for reliability
  • Image management with Cloudinary
  • Domain and SSL managed via Cloudflare
  • Nginx setup for performance and security
  • Full email integration for notifications

Learning and Collaboration

This project was inspired and guided by Saifuddin Shiblu Sir. I also got valuable support from Mohammad Rokan, Round 33 Graduate, which helped improve and finish the system successfully.

Through this project, I strengthened my skills in:

  • Database design
  • Oracle APEX development
  • Security and authentication
  • Real-world system planning and deployment

Building a Connected Community

This Alumni Platform is more than just a project. It is a step toward a connected IT community for Database Graduates — a place where professionals can learn, share knowledge, and support each other. This is just the beginning
